“红灯、绿灯、小白灯”是我们中国人再熟悉不过的儿时游戏了。在其他国家，孩子们世世代代也在玩儿类似的游戏。虽然游戏确切的起源现在不得而知，但各国游戏无论是名称还是规则都有相通之处。

除了比较常见的Red Light Green Light（红灯绿灯），在英国，它还被称作Statues（雕像）或者Grandmother’s Footsteps（祖母的脚步）。Statues（雕像）这一名称或许来源于玩儿的时候需要像雕像一样定住。而Grandmother’s Footsteps（祖母的脚步）有可能象征了走走停停的样子。

首先，我们向大家介绍最常见玩儿法的中英文游戏规则，之后介绍规则的几个变种。无论你选择哪种版本的游戏，我们介绍的语言都能派上用场。

Red Light Green Light 红灯、绿灯、小白灯

1. Hi children, let’s play Red Light, Green Light.

孩子们，咱们来玩儿“红灯绿灯小白灯”吧。

2. I stand at one end of the field and all of you stand at the opposite end.

我站在场地的一头儿，你们站在另一头儿。

3. I’m going to turn my back to you and call out "Green light!"

我现在要转过身去，背对你们，喊“绿灯！”

4. When I finish calling out, all of you should try to get to me as fast as you can.

我喊的时候，你们要以最快的速度向我靠近。

5. However, at any moment, I may call out “Red Light” and turn around and face all of you. As soon as I say “Red Light”, all of you must freeze and remain in that position.

但是，在任何时候，我都可以喊“红灯”并转身面向你们。只要我说“红灯”，你们就必须原地定住。

3. I’m going to turn my back to you and call out "Red Light! Green Light! Little White Light!

我现在要转过身去，背对你们，喊“红灯！绿灯！小白灯！”

4. All of you should try to get to me as fast as you can before I finish the last word.

在我说完最后一个词之前，你们要以最快的速度向我跑。

5. As soon as I finish “Little White Light”, I will turn around. All of you must freeze and remain in that position.

喊完“小白灯”之后我就会转过身来，所有人必须在原地定住。

6. If anyone moves, he or she will be penalized and must return to the starting point.

如果谁动了，就会被惩罚返回起点。

7. The first person to reach me wins. He or she will take my place in the next round.

第一个摸到我的人就算获胜。他会在下一轮取代我的位置。

8. Got it, everyone? OK, let’s start!

附：一些规则的变化

变化一：背对大家的人要手持画有红灯和绿灯的标志牌，在喊的同时要举起相应的标志牌。这种玩法可以增加游戏的趣味，很适合年龄较小的孩子。

变化二：负责喊“Red Light Green Light”的人可以全程面对大家。

变化三：在红灯绿灯以外加入了Yellow Light（黄灯）。听到黄灯时，大家都要以很慢的速度向前走，就不能跑了。
