双旦假期马上就要来了,最大的乐趣当然是吃吃吃啦。
说到吃,必须介绍一道小版最爱的开胃菜:夫妻肺片。
这道成都传统名菜,通常是用牛头皮、牛心、牛舌、牛肚、牛肉等卤制后切片,再浇上特制红油做成的,口感爽脆,鲜香麻辣,简直让人欲罢不能。
有趣的是,“夫妻肺片”还曾经被美国《GQ》杂志评选为“年度开胃菜”(Appetizer of the Year),在国外迎来了最高光时刻。
而在这个新闻中,小版还发现“夫妻肺片”居然有一个绝妙且脑洞大开英文名——Mr. And Mrs.Smith(史密斯夫妇),与安吉丽娜·朱莉与布拉德·皮特主演的好莱坞电影同名。
乍一看“夫妻肺片”被翻译成“史密斯夫妇”有点怪怪的,但如果了解“夫妻肺片”名字由来的故事,就会觉得这个译名还是挺有味道的。
话说清朝末年,在成都的街头巷尾,郭朝华和妻子每天都会提篮叫卖独创的凉拌牛肉片,由于他们所选用牛肉铺的边角料做食材,价格便宜、味道好,一直很受欢迎,久而久之人们就把这种凉拌牛肉片称为“夫妻肺片”。
这种夫妻搭档的生意,是不是和“史密斯夫妇”似乎有那么点类似呢?
借家喻户晓的电影名翻译中文菜品,容易让外国人心领神会,至少比“Husband and wife's lung slice (丈夫和妻子的肺片)这种血腥又让老外摸不着头脑的传统直译要来得好吧
其实,我国博大精深的八大菜系已征服了外国食友的胃,令他们欲罢不能,但是中国菜品的翻译却一直是个难题。
不过,北京市市外办和市民讲外语办公室在2012年联合出版了《美食译苑:中文菜单英文译法》(文末有PDF版免费领取方法),为2158道中餐饭菜“正名”。
